Everyone should have the honor and the privilege of owning a dog like Katy once in their lifetime. I would watch her walk across the floor and know I was in the presence of greatness. To call her living art does not do her justice. Then, add her bigger than life personality to all of this and you have the stuff that dreams are made from. Katy was without a doubt the Pekingese in charge – of the other Deja vu's, the house, the kennel, my heart. And she did it without ever growling or being ugly. The dogs, my husband and I just knew she was our Queen.
Katy made her deput at the inaugural Twin Pekes event in Pennsylvania in April 2018 at the age of 6 months. Judge Sean Corrigan from Glasgow, Scotland liked her so much he awarded her Best in Show Specialty over 5 worthy champions! The next day under Breed Icon Adele Summers, Katy charmed her way to Best of Opposite Sex. Mr. Corrigan's critique is as follows:
A lovely smaller bitch with type to spare, a face with width of features throughout and a twinkle in her eye. Compact, shapely, all of a piece and rolls beautifully on the move. Topped off with glamour and an endearing personality. Delighted to have her under me and to award her accordingly.
In May 2019, Katy traveled to Pomona, California to attend the Pekingese Club of America National Specialty. Under Breed Authority Mr. Hiram Stewart, she was awarded Best of Breed. It is truly a preservation breeder's dream to win at this level. She followed up her success a week later back in Florida with another Specialty Best of Breed win.
Just shy of her 6th birthday, Katy died September 8, 2023 from complications with a dental procedure. Weeks later I still can't speak of it. Wait for me on the other side sweet girl; I'll be looking for you. All my love. Always and forever.
